Cygnia Cove is nestled along the banks of Clontarf Bay on the Canning River, just under 10 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The estate draws its name from the black swans (Cygnus Atratus) which reside on this tranquil part of the river. This exclusive enclave of waterfront land has been designed to provide a refuge for residents and wildlife alike on this prime riverfront land.
The centrepiece of the estate is the rehabilitated river foreshore with its swan breeding ground. Here residents can observe the graceful black swans in their reclaimed natural habitat.
The location and environmentally sensitive nature of the site presented many challenges to both the designers and contractor alike. The presence of Acid Sulphate Soils and groundwater with high acidity levels meant that all contaminated soil had to be carefully treated and removed from site in a highly efficient manner in accordance with DEC guidelines and a strict Environmental Management Plan. Groundwater discharged back into the aquifers was required to be treated beforehand to ensure that it was suitable for re-infiltration. As an inaugural recipient of the EnviroDevelopment certification in WA, Cygnia Cove clearly sets an example for other land developments to follow.
